The Virginia Beach Lifeguard Association (VBLA) - Junior Lifeguard Camp - is committed to teaching the fundamentals of beach safety, first aid and environmental awareness in a physically active and fun filled week of activities. The Junior Lifeguard Campers will learn from and sometimes along side current Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service (VBLS) Lifeguards gaining a true sense of the role, responsibilities and reward of today’s oceanfront lifesavers.

The VBLA follows the recommendations of the United States Lifesaving Association in offering the camp to participants from the ages of 9 to 17. (However, most 16 & 17 year olds forego the Junior Lifeguard Camp to begin working with the VBLS.)
Every camper should be able to swim 100 meters continuously and be confident in their swimming abilities.
Campers will receive a VBLA Junior Lifeguard T-shirt included in their registration fee that should be worn for each day of the camp. Extra shirts may be purchased for $25 per shirt. Campers are asked to refrain from wearing a solid red bathing suit during camp.
Registration Fee & Paperwork
One session of the camp is $190 per applicant. Each additional session or additional family members is $170.
